Crowns

If the tooth has suffered destruction and is extremely fragile, a crown is then essential to ensure it will still be able to function for a long time. The crown, or cap, fits over the remaining part of the tooth and gives it a natural appearance.

A conventional crown is made of porcelain which is bonded to a precious metal structure. Of course the metal won't be visible by you and the tooth will have a perfectly natural appearance. This is still the best solution a dentist can offer on a back tooth in terms of crowns.

For anterior teeth we recommend full-ceramic crowns which are still strong and can mimic nature with perfection.

Advantages of crowns?

  • High strength
  • Full coverage
  • Easy to achieve good aesthetics

How does it work?

The dentist needs to remove the old filling and decayed tissue to prepare the tooth for the crown. The procedure is slightly more invasive than when doing an onlay and might require a previous core build-up. An impression is taken with the iTero Scanner and sent to the Swiss-Smile Laboratory. The crown is then fitted on the tooth with great precision and aesthetics.
