Dental accidents

In case of any dental accident, such as a broken tooth, a dentist should be consulted at the earliest opportunity.

A knocked-out tooth can be re-implanted - however, the time you take to get that tooth to the dentist will be critical.  As the cells at the root of the tooth dry out within 30 minutes, it is essential that the tooth should be kept moist.  Always hold the tooth by the crown, never by the root.
Do not clean the tooth.

Ideally, the tooth should be transported in a tooth saver box - available from any pharmacy - containing a cell nutrient solution which will keep the tooth alive for up to 24 hours.

If no special box is available, keep the tooth in cold milk.
